Poker Pro Earning Big Wins at Party Poker NJ Site

partyParty Poker is back in action in the United States, via the state of New Jersey. The online poker room in NJ offers players a nice selection of games and tournaments to enjoy if players are located within the states borders. It was recently discovered that one pro player has seen great success at the Party Poker site.

Mike Azzaro is a poker player who is from New York that travels across the northeastern part of the US to compete in live game play. Once online game play launched in NJ, Azzaro took to the state to compete, doing quite well. The player even won the first and second Sunday Majors hosted by Party Poker.

The Sunday Major has a buy-in of $200 and offers a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000. The first time the event took place, there were 173 players competing and by the very next week, the event had more players competing at 265. Azzaro was able to outlast all the competitors to earn the first place finish.

The pro spoke with Poker News about the two wins, stating: “The first one was a real grind to the money. I made a tough call on the bubble to double up, and was able to chip up on the bubble pretty nicely after that. I rode an above average stack to the final table, then ran pretty well in some big spots.”

Azzaro continued stating that the second event ran smoothly and he held a 100-plus big blind stack basically throughout the tournament. He gained the chip lead when just under 40 players remained and this helped him to secure the lead. Azzaro stated the tournament has a great structure that he was able to take advantage of.  It will be interesting to see how well the pro continues to play during upcoming Party Poker events.
